Thailand, 47% of hotels expected to close in the next three months

The surge of the pandemic in Thailand is beginning to start lining up some bigger casualties. Thailand was preparing to start opening up to international tourism and the new surge of Covid-19 could potentially set the plans back.
According to a recent survey of Thailand’s hotel industry, nearly half of all hotels could close in under three months. According to a study published by The Nation Thailand, 47% of hotels have enough cash to last no longer than three months.
The survey is focused on the Bank of Thailand’s April 2021 trust index of hotel business operators, which surveyed 188 hotels nationwide from April 12-26.

Japan ambassador to Thailand ‘likely’ contracted coronavirus during visit to Bangkok club

THAILAND (TR) – On April 3, Japan’s ambassador to Thailand, Kazuya Nashida, tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He then began undergoing treatment at a hospital.
“Since the case was found,” Nishida, 60, later wrote in a letter to the chairman of the Centre of Economic Situation Administration, “the Embassy of Japan promptly contacted all those who were suspected to have had close contacts with me after 25th March.”
There was actually a bit more to it: On that night, he visited a nightclub in Bangkok where the companions can get very intimate with the customers.
New Laos Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh. - The Nation Thailand/ANN VIENTIANE, April 11 (Xinhua): New Laos Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh held phone conversations with his Thai counterpart Gen. Prayut Chan-O-Cha to strengthen traditional friendship and cooperation between Laos and Thailand, Lao News Agency (KPL) has reported.
During the talks on Thursday, the Thai Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Phankham upon the latter s election as the new Laos prime minister.
Phankham expressed sincere thanks to his Thai counterpart for extending to him warm congratulations upon his assumption to the post and expressed gratitude to the government of Thailand upon its support of human resource development in the Laos through providing long-term and short-term scholarships especially in the priority areas of education and sports, agriculture, and health.
