On Friday, fast food workers nationwide went on strike. It was a demonstration to demand higher wages and the right to unionize ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.
Pressuring Biden to deliver on his campaign promise, workers in several U.S. cities including Chicago, Charleston, Detroit, Durham, Flint, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Milwaukee, Memphis, Oakland, Orlando, Sacramento, St. Louis, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa, fastfood workers at McDonald’s Wendy’s and other chains walked off the job on what would have been Martin Luther King’s 92 birthday, according to USA Today. Striking workers are demanding the new administration prioritizes #RaiseTheWage to $15 in the first 100 days in office.

What would Dickens write about today s America, where the total wealth gains of America s 650 billionaires have surpassed $1 trillion since March? Where Jeff Bezos has seen his fortune increase by $72 billion during the pandemic, while Amazon faces intense criticism for failing to keep its workers safe even as thousands of them fall ill? Where billionaires have reportedly given less than a 10th of 1% of their wealth to COVID-19 pandemic relief?
CNBC spoke with several people who have worked with Jeff Ricchetti, seeking insight into how he may go into the new year looking to influence lawmakers.
CNBC reached out to Ricchetti on Wednesday. He did not return a request to comment for this story. A spokesman for the Biden transition team also did not return a request for comment.
In 2020, Jeff Ricchetti had his biggest batch of clients since 2014, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. The surge in clients came as Biden won the Democratic primary and eventually defeated President Donald Trump in the general election.
Biden later named Steve Ricchetti, who was also the former vice president s campaign chairman, as his White House counselor. Jeff Ricchetti, meanwhile, secured almost a dozen contracts this year and reaped at least $635,000 in lobbying fees. Amazon is one of his newest clients, as CNBC first reported.
