8 March 2021By AFP 0 min 47Approximate reading time The International Criminal Court on Monday awarded victims of Congolese warlord Bosco Ntaganda $30 million (25 million euros) in reparations. Nicknamed the “Terminator” for his reign of terror in the early 2000s, Ntaganda was jailed for 30 years in 2019 for war crimes and crimes against humanity. “In light of the circumstances of the case and bearing in mind the rights of the convicted person, the chamber set the total reparations award for which Mr Ntaganda is liable at $30 million,” the court said in a statement. The court asked the court’s trust fund for victims to arrange for the reparations to be made, or to find further funds as necessary, as Ntaganda was unable to pay.
