Carter, who is a senior at Monacan High School in Chesterfield, was  hosted virtually by Village Bank to participate in Bank Day. As the Capitol region winner, Carter was awarded a $2,500 scholarship and will now receive an additional $5,000, for a total of $7,500 for her college education.

- Advertisement -  On  Saturday morning this weekend I ventured out of the beautiful town of Patriot and went to the equally beautiful town of Rising Sun on an adventure for the morning….. What was my adventure you ask, I was out and about enjoying a rite of spring… that’s right I was out at the community yard sales. Lots of people selling lots of stuff.   My first stop brought me to the Ohio County Historical Museum and low and behold the first person I see there is Patriot’s own Angel Lieland set up with a variety of good sales. I hope she did well on her outing. It was great seeing you Angel. As I walked around town looking at different sales my mind started to spin in a planning mode I think as a town we should have a community sale as well. I have mentioned this a time or two in previous articles, but I think it would be an awesome idea and it would get people out and about and to come to Patriot to see just how amazing we are. Liberty High School had a lower graduation rate than Benicia Unified District s overall graduation rate at 93.8 percent, according to the California Department of Education. In comparison, Benicia Unified District had a graduation rate of 96 percent for the 2017-2018 school year. According to CDE data, graduation rates continue to indicate an increase in disproportional academic performance between white, Black, Latino, and English learner students. According to the National Centre for Education Statistics, in the 2017-2018 school year, of the 50 states where data was collected, students with disabilities were at the bottom of 4-year high school graduation rates by student group.
