I just remember how nice and welcoming she was and she was definitely old school and by the book, but we respected each other, and she really cared about the kids and helped us realize how important education is. Back then we didn t know teachers first names, so he was just Mr. Dodge. He always involved you in the learning and made it relevant. We did a lot of simulations (like) The Oregon Trail and the stock market, and I still remember them today because we were involved in the learning and never knew what the outcome was going to be. It depended on the decisions you made as a student.

Decatur City Council approves contract to expand city s fiber optic network

License plate-reading cameras: effective anti-crime tool or just a costly and nosy new neighbor?Â The council also approved the purchase of several vehicles, including six 2021 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicles for about $315,000.Â The vehicles replaces three Chevrolet Impalas and three Ford Interceptors, which have between 70,000 and 107,000 miles of use.Â Two of the vehicles will have high performance EcoBoost engines requested by the Decatur Police Department for occasions that require an improved emergency response. Computer equipment and body cams will be transferred to the new vehicles from the replaced vehicles. They are expected to be delivered within 90 days. But with funds budgeted and a more clear picture, they voted to move forward with several suggesting to Wrighton that they attempt to purchase six more vehicles in order to make up for last year.Â
