PH embassy in Seoul alerts OFWs on new Korean visa extension rule

Published April 8, 2021, 2:33 PM The Korean Immigration Service has informed the Philippine Embassy in Seoul about its new visa rule that will take effect on July 1, 2021 mandating that visa extension will now apply to only valid passports – passports which have not expired and have a valid date. Seoul, South Korea (Photo by Jonathan Hicap) Citing an example, the Embassy said even if the person is eligible for a 2-year extension, if his or her passport is only valid for six (6) months, the period of stay shall only be extended for six (6) months. Given the new visa rules, the Philippine Embassy advised the members of the Filipino community to ensure that their passports are duly updated, especially those who are applying for the extension of their stay in South Korea.

It was demanded that the government ensure payment of the minimum wages to all workers especially the janitors working with civic bodies, security guards and petrol pump workers. The event was held at the Karachi Press Club. Rights activist Naeem Sadiq, the main petitioner in the matter, said that he had been contacted by a few of his friends concerned about very low wages of sanitary workers, security guards, etc.
