Transfer of TIMS doctors condemned Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) have condemned the transfer of two senior resident doctors at Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS). The institute’s director issued relieving orders on Wednesday stating that Wasey Wasim Kabir and Arundhathi were being shifted to RIMS, Adilabad, with immediate effect on administrative grounds. The TJUDAs said the transfers were effected for questioning lapses in administration and infrastructure in a democratic way. “TJUDAs demand immediate revocation of the transfer order. We will announce a plan of action if government fails to revoke the notices,” said TJUDA president V. Naveen.

Hyderabad: Facing constant pressure from High Court, the Telangana government finally decided to impose a total lockdown from Wednesday morning to firmly deal with the raging pandemic. A cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday decided to go for 10-day lockdown starting from 10am on Wednesday, and impose many other restrictions. An official release issued after the cabinet meet said people will be given a window of four hours from 6am to 10am every day to purchase essential commodities and attend necessary day-to-day work. The cabinet also decided to float a global tender to source the COVID-19 vaccines from manufacturers.

There was just one lucky patient in the same row who survived in the ICU on the second floor of TIMS, thanks to the fact that this patient was not on non-invasive ventilation (NIV). The NIV means that patients could be placed on CPAP or BIPAP machines that force air into their lungs at a certain required pressure.

Deaths of eight patients on Sunday night were reportedly attributed to lack of the crucial resources. Doctors working at the hospitals, who were on the verge of breakdown, too pointed at the drop in oxygen levels. However, top officials at the Telangana Health Department denied the allegations. They said that TIMS has a Liquid Oxygen Tank (LOT) which has sufficient stock. The Hindu has evidence of a doctor alerting the institute officials saying eight of nine patients in a row have died. The patients were in an ICU in the second floor. The lone patient who survived was not on Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV). The doctor has also informed the officials that upon enquiry, a Health Care Worker found that oxygen pressure dropped.
