One of Dietrich Nissenâs biggest regrets was not having a video recorded of his grandmother recalling the life she lived, despite her impressive storytelling ability.
In 2006, Peggy Nissen had begun experiencing dementia and was diagnosed with Alzheimerâs within the year. Grandson Nissen was devastated â and he didnât want the same to happen to others and their loved ones. So, the third-generation Edina resident and former city employee decided to start a new business, called Inherited Stories, to ensure families didnât miss out on chronicling a family membersâ cherished memories.
And being able to do this for others has been fulfilling to Nissen.
Agyeman to lead Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families

Ahmed Agyeman has been named the new director of the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families. Agyeman, who is currently the director of community and global engagement at Des Moines Area Community College, will begin his new position on June 21, DMACC announced. The Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families is a partnership among DMACC, the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines and the Directors Council.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Ahmed Agyeman as the director of the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families, said DMACC Urban Campus Provost Dr. Anne Howsare Boyens. “He has served DMACC and our communities in numerous capacities, and we are extremely fortunate to have him provide leadership of the center.

Erica Hamilton’s street was a wreck this summer. All the asphalt was removed, leaving vehicles to churn up mud, as if the street were an off-road racetrack. Construction has become a given on Hamilton’s block in Edina, Minn., a suburb of Minneapolis. Modest homes constantly are being torn down and replaced with newer, larger, swankier houses.
