Three charged with DUI One moment Bayli Kurtz was speeding and the next moment the 25-year-old Armstrong Township woman was rolling in her 2012 Ford Focus after the car hit an embankment along Middle Road in Limestone Township about 8:45 p.m. on March 11, according to state police. The vehicle landed upright. Kurtz, of 45 French Settlement Road, told a state trooper at the scene that she was “not exactly sure what happened,” but she did admit to speeding, court records stated. The trooper reported Kurtz had “a moderate odor of alcohol” coming from her body. She did admit to having an alcoholic beverage within the last hour, police said.

May 5, 2021 Kenneth R. Bergren, 94, of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Williamsport, passed away peacefully May 4, 2021. He was born Dec. 19, 1926, the son of Carl Gustav Bergren and Esther Larson Bergren, both of whom predeceased him. He married the love of his life on March 17, 1956, the former Audre LaForme. Audre survives at home. Ken grew up in South Williamsport and graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1944. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1947. After the Army, he enrolled at the former Dickenson Junior College (currently Lycoming College) for 2 years before transferring to Augusta College, in Rock Island, Ill. He graduated in 1952 with a degree in business administration.

Little League International president and CEO Steve Keener announced Monday there will be a World Series in South Williamsport this summer, but it will not feature any international teams. Instead, the annual event will be comprised of 16 American teams. The decision to not have international teams came down to a number of contributing factors, Keener said. Among them was the uncertainty of international locations being able to host regional tournaments this year, as well as the inability to secure traveling Visas for the international teams which qualified.
