Through the LSUE Academy, an early college dual enrollment program at Louisiana State University Eunice, students from three St. Landry high schools will start their next semester several steps ahead of their peers. Nicholas Vallair, 17, will start at Southern University in Baton Rouge in the fall, after he graduates from Northwest High next week, of course. He walked across the LSUE stage Friday to receive his Associate of General Studies. I took all my prerequisite classes, so I ll be almost a junior when I get there (Southern), Vallair said. I can focus strictly on my major.

The lab is a partnership with SLCC, LHC Group, and Myers Family Foundation that began in 2020. The Home Health Lab features a state-of-the-art, immersive environment that replicates a patient s bedroom or living room and allows SLCC healthcare students to practice the knowledge, skills, and abilities of home care in a realistic environment. The lab is complete with an advanced computerized simulation mannequin that replicates a variety of clinical situations and responds to care given by its users.

The finalists were among 64 applicants from across the nation. The four finalists, in alphabetical order, are Dr. Alessandro Anzalone of Tampa, Fla.; Dr. Jermaine Ford of Lafayette, La.; Dr. J. Gregory Hodges of Ridgeway; and Dr. Tanjula Petty of Pike Road, Ala.

Arrest made after bomb threat called in at SLCC KATC and last updated 2021-04-08 14:02:31-04 UPDATE: An arrest has been made in connection with the Thursday morning bomb threat called in at South Louisiana Community College in Lafayette. Lafayette Police say that Brian Taylor was arrested on April 8 after the all clear was given at the campus. Police say a call came in to 911 around 9:30 a.m. Students were moved from campus while the buildings were searched. Christine Payton, Public Relations Director for SLCC says that the security director was made aware of the threat and then called LPD. Police swept campus buildings including Devalcourt, Ardoin and the Health and Science building.
