TWIN FALLS â Smoke from wildfires occurring in Idaho and neighboring states is drifting across all of Idaho.
For more vulnerable and sensitive populations, it can affect their daily routine and their health. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is spreading the word on preventative measures those people can take to try and stay safe.
âWe looked back at our records a couple of years ago and last year, and weâre about three weeks ahead of when smoke started creeping last year, said Mark Boyle, the Smoke Management Program supervisor for Idaho.
While smoke is anticipated to be around throughout the summer, it s tough to forecast how serious it will be for the remaining summer months. But due to severe drought conditions and the intense heat, the chance for fires is high and the smoke can pose plenty of risks to people.

TWIN FALLS â With high temperatures predicted for the foreseeable future, more people may be inclined to spend time indoors and cool off in an air-conditioned environment. To try and reduce the chances of a power outage, Idaho Power is sharing ways to decrease energy usage.
âThese conditions do cause, what Iâll say is scarcity in the energy markets, said Adam Richins, the Chief Operating Officer for Idaho Power. As there really is less energy and transmission to go around.â

Nonstop daily air service between Denver International Airport and Magic Valley Regional Airport in Twin Falls begins May 12.
Twin Falls will start a new daily flight to Denver this week on United Airlines. The flights are operated by SkyWest Airlines, and the first plane takes off on Wednesday.
Right now, passengers going out of Magic Valley Regional Airport can only travel to Salt Lake City International Airport on three daily flights.
Local leaders say the Denver flight could spur more tourism in South Central Idaho and could be a boon to the business community.
