Five Rivers Child Care foster carers homelessness fundraiser

A volunteer team of foster carers and looked after children have been working together to raise money and awareness for Cornwall homelessness this winter. The children and young people taking part, aged between seven and 15, are all currently in foster care through the Truro-based independent fostering provider and social enterprise, Five Rivers Child Care. The idea to fundraise for homelessness came from a group of young people in care during a Make a Difference meeting. The meetings are made up of fostered children from across the West Country who worked together to plan the activity. Ten young people, nine carers and six Five Rivers staff members, have walked a combined total of just over 400 miles, meeting their goal, along the South West Coast Path from St Agnes to Penzance and Prussia Cove to Lizard Point, raising over £460.

Shocking moment man makes two young children pose fro a photo on top of 150ft unstable cliffs

A man appeared to make his two young children pose for a photograph on top a 150ft cliffs edge, known for being unstable, yesterday.  In a series of unsettling shots, the man can be seen positioning his children on the edge of the sheer drop at West Bay, Dorset - prone to rock falls.  The young girl, who appears to be no older than eight, dangled her legs off the cliff edge, while an even younger looking boy faced the camera phone the man was pointing at them.   A man was seen taking pictures of two young children dangerously close to the edge of the cliff edge at West Bay, Dorset

Toasting at midnight in restaurants is off the table due to the hospitality curfew, and big bashes in party houses are a distant dream. However, for those who have become too acquainted with their own homes, starting 2021 with a staycation celebration is an enticing alternative. It will be quieter, just travelling with your partner, household or support bubble, and there may be slightly less champagne popping than usual, but marking the New Year can still feel special.
