Recently, I drove to Harrison to see my friend Shirley. We had planned for what I called a “drive-by” visit as I had expected to park in her driveway, see her from the doorway of the barn, and chat briefly, the format of a previous visit in February. However, when I got there, her daughter had set out chairs for us in the driveway, at a distance, of course. So due to the chairs and the nice weather, we were able to have a 45- minute visit. It was so good to see her.

OHIO – Kristopher “Kris” Alan Roukey was a devoted husband, father, son and friend. He left this world suddenly on Sunday, May 2, 2021.
Kris was born in Portland, Maine, to Robert Roukey and Donna Lamb on Jan. 24, 1973. Kris grew up in South Portland across the street from the South Portland Boys Club where his love for baseball started. Kris was on all star baseball teams all through high school and graduated from South Portland High School in 1991. He attended Springfield College and graduated with a degree in sports management. After college, he spent a year in Oklahoma with the Tulsa Drillers, and then moved to Ohio where he lived for over 20 years. He worked with the the Akron Aeros and then with the Cleveland Indians Major League Baseball organization where he

The coronavirus pandemic has posed significant challenges to everyday life, one of the biggest being how to shift into a virtual world. Part of this transition is figuring out how to best educate students virtually while also taking into consideration student wellbeing. Though a daunting task, seven Bowdoin students have risen to the challenge through the Bowdoin Teacher Scholars Program (BTS). BTS aims to prepare Bowdoin students for teacher certification through a fourteen-week practicum where they work in local schools and create a professional portfolio with the guidance of faculty, peers, and mentor teachers.
