MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team survived a late surge by Alabama State to get the win at Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Monday, Jan. 25.
The Lady Jags (4-8, 4-2 SWAC) held on for a 60-56 victory over the Lady Hornets (4-1, 4-1 SWAC).
Genovea Johnson led Southern with 20 points. She also had four rebounds. Nakia Kincey added 17 points and six rebounds.
Shmya Ward had 20 points and nine rebounds for Alabama State.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team picked up its second SWAC win behind a strong third quarter against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the F.G. Clark Activity Center on Saturday, Jan. 16.
Southern women beat UAPB
The Lady Jaguars (2-8, 2-2 SWAC) went on to a 67-57 win over the Lady Lions (2-8, 1-3 SWAC).
Sophomore forward Genovea Johnson led Southern with 13 points. Senior guard Nakia Kincey added 11 points and four rebounds. Sophomore forward Raven White chipped in 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

GRAMBLING, La. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team fought to the end but dropped a close one to Grambling on Saturday, Jan. 9.
The Lady Jaguars (1-7, 1-1 SWAC) fell 67-64 to the Lady Tigers (2-3, 1-0 SWAC).
Amani McWain recorded a double-double for Southern with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She was 7-of-11 from the field and 1-of-2 on 3-pointers. Caitlin Davis added 12 points. Raven White and Taneara Moore each chipped in 10 points.
