House Majority Whip James Clyburn of walks on Capitol Hill in Washington. Among other speakers: Stacey Abrams, whose voter registration and education efforts helped flip Georgia blue for Biden; Representative Cedric Richmond; Congressional Black Caucus Chair Representative Joyce Beatty; Senator Cory Booker; and the incoming senator from Georgia, Reverend Raphael Warnock. The event will pay homage to the legacy of the nation’s historically Black colleges and universities, as well as Black sororities and fraternities. Harris is the first HBCU graduate and Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority member to be vice president. The sorority’s international president and CEO, Dr Glenda Glover, and Howard University President Dr Wayne Frederick will deliver remarks.
The resilience, culture and heroism of Black Americans and the African diaspora will be the central theme of a virtual event on the eve of US President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Florida A&M Universityâs Marching 100 will perform as part of a Presidential Inaugural Event honoring President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
On Tuesday, the Marching 100 will perform for the âWe Are Oneâ event, which is scheduled from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
The event is hosted by the Presidential Inaugural Committee and will celebrate and honor the Black community with powerful speakers, inspiring stories and entertaining performances, according to the university.
FAMU Band Director Shelby Chipman said that about 150 band members participated in the taping of the performance, which included a rendition of Bill Withersâ âLovely Day.â

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - It was a big night for Southern University, a chance to play on the big screen, a moment they have been craving for a while.
âEven in this time, you know we are in a pandemic, weâre in phase 2 where we can barely go anywhere and do anything. For people to find joy and happiness in something like this. I think itâ great,â says Kendric Taylor who is the band director for Southern University.
