Conway, meanwhile, took his season numbers to 190 runs at 95, strike rate 119, after guiding Somerset to their target of 162 with four balls to spare in Bristol. It was a third successive half-century for Conway. The left-hander hit 12 fours in a measured, well paced innings in the absence of Tom Banton who was summoned to England’s squad. Conway and Banton put on 169 unbroken to guide Somerset to a 10-wicket win over Kent earlier in the week.

A rare miss saw Glenn Phillips of Gloucestershire slip to third on the T20 Blast run charts. Conway, who turns 30 next week, made a remarkable start to his test career with 200 against England at Lord’s, and averages over 50 in all three international formats since his Black Caps debut in November.
