South Tahoe High students to host musical performances

Staff Report SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. The South Tahoe High School drama department starting on Friday will host several shows over the next couple of weeks. Students will perform “The Drowsy Chaperone” through livestream with the first show at 7 p.m. Friday, May 14. The Drowsy Chaperone is an homage to American musicals of the Jazz Age. The story concerns a middle-aged, asocial musical theatre fan. South Tahoe High students will hold several performances over the next couple of weeks starting on Friday evening. Provided As he plays the record of his favorite musical, the fictional 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone, the show comes to life onstage, as he wryly comments on the music, story and actors. The characters appear in his dingy apartment, and it is transformed into an impressive Broadway set with seashell footlights, sparkling furniture, painted backdrops, and glitzy costumes.

Helping to solve Lake Tahoe’s microplastics problem INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Lake Tahoe has big problems that are in small plastic pieces. To support efforts to reduce plastic waste, students from environmental clubs at four high schools in the region partnered with staff from local nonprofits to learn about plastic reduction programs and how they can help Take Care of Lake Tahoe. On Earth Day 2021 their efforts, which began in the fall of 2019, came to fruition when the CEO of Raley’s agreed to create lasting, sustainable changes at their stores. Proposed expansion of LTUSD social, mental and sexual health curriculum

Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/06/2021 - 6:00am SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) is working to expand Social Emotional and Mental Health instruction this year and in future years, including adopting curriculum and resources. Sexual health and healthy relationships is an important piece of the California Department of Education Health Education Framework. This year, LTUSD is looking at the adoption of curriculum for South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High School to be implemented during the 2021-2022 school year. Two meetings were held during the 19-20 school year to review two Sexual Health Education Program curriculum choices. Due to COVID-19, the last meeting to review the last curriculum, Positive Prevention Plus, was delayed.
