Civil Air Patrol helps deliver COVID-19 vaccine in SD

Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Dec 16, 2020 7:34 AM The Civil Air Patrol’s South Dakota Wing delivered some doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown yesterday (Dec. 15, 2020) on behalf of the South Dakota Department of Health. Col Nick Gengler, South Dakota Wing commander says this is truly a turning point in the battle against COVID-19. He says some members of the South Dakota Wing are flying the Pfizer vaccine to certain smaller communities with its fleet of single-engine aircraft while other wing members assist with mission planning and logistical support. Civil Air Patrol aircraft and aircrews are located in Pierre, Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Spearfish and Brookings. The wing can deploy its six aircraft and its vans where needed to assist in emergency response and other support to local, state, tribal and federal agencies.
