Alachua County reports 62 COVID-19 cases Thursday
Alachua County reported 62 new COVID-19 cases in Thursday’s update from the state health department as cases continue to tick upward.
The total number of cases is now 23,440, and local deaths remain at 259, including 77 affiliated with long-term care. The residents include at least 71 men and 73 women.
Thursday afternoon, 48 patients at Alachua County hospitals had a primary diagnosis of COVID-19, according to data from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. Hospitals had about 13.7% available capacity, and overall bed availability has remained stable for the past month.
Statewide, Florida reported 6,790 new cases Wednesday, for a total of 2,064,525.
