The Southern Senators Forum (SSF) has lent its support to Tuesday’s call by the 17 Southern Governors for the proper restructuring of the Nigerian nation as well as the ban on open grazing in the Southern States.
The Southern Senators Forum consisting of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators as well as their counterparts in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Young People’s Party (YPP), commended Governors from the region for outrightly taking a firm position on burning national issues, including call for the restructuring of the nation and ban on open grazing of cattle.

Ado-Ekiti The Southern Senators Forum on Wednesday called on Southern Governors to swiftly follow up on their resolutions on restructuring, state policing and the jettisoning of open grazing by approaching the leadership of the National Assembly with a view to ensure that these positions are thoroughly and decisively addressed through the ongoing constitutional review exercise.
The SSF said those problems identified by the governors are potential threat to national cohesion and peace.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume, has faulted the decision of the Southern Governors Forum to ban open grazing in the South-West, South-East and the South-South geopolitical zones of the country.
Ndume, who is representing the Borno South Senatorial District in the upper chamber, stated this while addressing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.
He insisted that the issue of open grazing was only causing insecurity in the North-Central geopolitical zone and some parts of the South- West.
Senators from southern Nigeria had earlier on Wednesday, expressed their support for governors from their various geopolitical zones who were demanding the restructuring of the country and the immediate ban on open grazing in their respective states.
