Multiple police bodies across the province are reporting that people are tying up their emergency lines with inquiries about Ontario's recently implemented lockdown procedures.
BARRIE, ONT. South Simcoe Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who failed to stop for police in Cookstown, Innisfil. On Tuesday, around 10:15 a.m., a police officer saw an older blue and black Dodge Ram pickup truck at a gas station on Queen Street. The officer realized the licence plate did not belong to the truck. When the truck left the gas station and headed westbound on Highway 89, the officer attempted to pull it over. The driver began to pull over but then accelerated away from police. The officer didn’t pursue the vehicle. The truck was last seen heading northbound on Highway 27.
BARRIE, ONT. South Simcoe Police remind residents that not following public health guidelines could result in a hefty fine this holiday season. Police reported two separate instances where officers allege quarantine requirements were not followed, resulting in charges. According to police, a woman who recently travelled from the United States was supposed to be isolating in an Innisfil home, but when police arrived for a check-in, they were told she was out shopping. When she returned, police charged her with failing to comply with an order under the Quarantine Act. Police said an Innisfil man returned home from the Caribbean, and when officers dropped by for a quarantine check, they said he was with friends shopping in Toronto.
