It’s being reported that legal proceedings have been initiated against the HSE in relation to the alleged overprescribing of medication in South Kerry.
Last month, the HSE began reviewing the files of some children and young people who attended the South Kerry CAMHS.
The HSE is reviewing the files of over 1,500 children and young people who attended the South Kerry Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services between 2016 and 2020.

A helpline was set up to assist those affected.
Today’s Irish Independent reports legal proceedings against the HSE have been initiated over the alleged prescribing of excessive amounts of medication to a child attending a mental health service.

Redeployment of gardaí within Kerry to areas with a high number of tourists is being considered for the summer months.
At the recent Joint Policing Committee meeting, several county councillors asked the council and An Garda Síochána if they had the resources to deal with the busy summer that s expected in Kerry.
Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda Division, Eileen Foster, said the county will get very few additional resources for the summer, but there will be policing plans in place.

Councillors expressed concerns about garda resources in certain areas of Kerry, that will receive a massive increase in visitor numbers during the summer.
