NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â A wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet has prompted a Storm 5 Alert for Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, and crews are making sure roads are safe for drivers tonight.
Tennessee Department of Transportation crews are working hard in Northwest Tennessee, where an Ice Storm Warning is in effect. Officials from TDOT are advising drivers to take it slow there.
Spring is right around the corner, and with people still at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, many are beginning to think about home improvement projects.

The Corbin Police Department says they’ve arrested a man connected to break-in attempts at three local convenience stores. Corbin Police Lt. Coy Wilson, the department’s public affairs officer, said 19-year-old Jerrad L. Gilbert is charged with burglary and criminal mischief after incidents at A to Z Mart on South Main Street, the Sunoco gas station on 18th Street near Corbin High School, and Corbin Tobacco 2 at the intersection of South Main and South Kentucky Ave. Police found windows busted out at each location, but no one at the scene. After investigating and reviewing surveillance footage police arrested Gilbert, who was riding a bicycle on U.S. 25W near Wallen’s Towing. Police searched his mother’s home on Kentucky Ave. and found clothes he was wearing in the security videos and items taken from the break ins. Gilbert was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
