ABIA State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has issued a N10m cheque towards the education of the last son of the late representative of Aba North/South Federal Constituency, Ossy Prestige.
Making the presentation during a town hall meeting, in Abiriba, Ikpeazu described the late Prestige as a close ally despite the difference in their political affiliations. The governor promised to play an active role in the burial of the late federal lawmaker.
While receiving the cheque on behalf of the family, the member representing Aba Central State Constituency and Minority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, Abraham Oba, gave an assurance that the funds will be used for the purpose for which it was given.
The Abia State chapter of the Action Alliance(AA), has adopted Dr. Okey Prestige as its flag-bearer in the upcoming March bye-election for the vacant position of Aba North/Aba South federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The AA Flag-bearer is the younger brother of the former occupant, Late Hon Ossy Prestige, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) and died in Germany last month.
The adoption of Dr. Okey Prestige as Candidate of Action Alliance, AA, for the coming bye-election was unanimously agreed by the party leaders, stakeholders and supporters in a voice vote, on Wednesday.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has handed over a cheque of ten million naira to the family of late lawmaker representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Ossy Prestige, for the education of his last son.
Speaking during the presentation at the Town Hall Meeting between him and the Abiriba on Wednesday, Ikpeazu expressed a deep sense of personal loss following the news of the death of Prestige.
He called for prayers and support to the family at this time of grief and going forward.
According to him, the late Prestige was someone who was close to him regardless of differences in political affiliation and assured that he will be fully involved in the burial ceremonies.
