A man has been released from custody as police probe the circumstances around a reported sexual assault in Melbourne’s CBD late last night.
A man and a woman met at the intersection of Commissioners Lane and Spencer Street, close to Southern Cross Station, at about 11pm on Friday night, according to a spokeswoman from Victoria Police.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says he is confident his state can get on top of its latest coronavirus outbreak in just five days, despite reporting six new cases on Friday.
Four cases were also reported on Thursday, bringing the state s total number of new cases to 10.
Mr Andrews on Friday announced weekly payments will be available for Victorian businesses and workers, with the cost to be shared by the state and federal governments.
The total number of cases linked to the current outbreak now sits at 24. There are 126 exposure sites, 1,500 close contacts and 5,000 secondary contacts.

Coaches are being organised to replace V/Line trains across the state, as a major power outage in the CBD has severely limited the regional train service.
V/Line has advised that it is attempting to “source as many coaches as possible” to replace train services but urged passengers not to use the V/Line service for non-essential travel.
Limited train services have recommenced travel to and from Southern Cross Station about 9.30am, V/Line said in a statement.
Coaches have been dispatched to run from Kyneton Station to Southern Cross Station and one coach has been dispatched to run from Gisborne Station to Southern Cross Station.
