The South County Chambers of Commerce is honored to represent the South San Luis Obispo County business community and its tens of thousands of employees. Our mission is to create partnerships and opportunities to ensure businesses prosper. California State Parks provided KSBY with the following statement:
On March 18, the California Coastal Commission will vote on whether to adopt, among other things, a five-year phase-out of off-highway vehicle (OHV) access that millions have enjoyed for generations.
· State Parks believes approving these abrupt changes would not be in the public interest.
· The draft Public Works Plan (PWP), which we have proposed to address resource and operational issues, protects and strengthens the biodiversity and habitats of this region, while managing the area for diverse recreational access.

After almost a year of pandemic closures, the re-opening of the Oceano Dunes to off-road vehicles is bringing business back to the area.
Many Grover Beach business owners said foot traffic has increased significantly since the Oceano Dunes opened back up to overnight campers and off-highway vehicles on Friday.
Grover Station Grill owner Z Zaferis said he has been able to bring employees back on this week with the uptick in business. [We have seen] a huge difference especially [Sunday], the last couple of days we noticed a significant increase in takeout and delivery services, food jets (that are) locally owned, and door dash, says Zaferis.

OCEANO, Calif. The South County Chambers of Commerce is asking community members to take part in Takeout Tuesday.
The social media campaign has been ongoing for nearly one year, since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. We started promoting Takeout Tuesday right away, and we got such great feedback from the restaurants to keep it going because we still need those orders, said South County Chambers of Commerce President/CEO Jocelyn Brennan. They want to retain as many staff as they possibly can, and they want to keep their business alive, so we can keep pushing Takeout Tuesday.

VISION If built, the Dana Reserve project (rendered) would bring more than 1,200 new housing units to Nipomo. On Jan. 26, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors voted to begin formally processing the application for Dana Reserve a major project proposing 1,270 units of single-family and multi-family housing, a commercial center, and 74 acres of parks and open space. With the vote, SLO County entered into a memorandum of understanding with the developer, NKT Commercial s Nick Tompkins, that sets the parameters for the project s review, and also amended the county general plan in South County to better align it with the project.
