Maryland lawmakers introduced bills that would alter the school resource program this session, and although some counties are considering the program's removal, Carroll leaders, and some parents, want it to stay.
The school system’s data dashboard showed that 85 members of the CCPS community tested positive for the novel coronavirus between this week and last, 24 staff members and 61 students. That number was 112 last week and 113 the week before.
Since students returned to hybrid learning last week, CCPS has worked to fill in areas where staff members are absent. Despite the challenges the school system faced with staff, several parents have reported positive reviews of their child’s in-person learning experience.
“To stand here and tell you that the state of the county is currently strong would be misleading,” Commissioner President Ed Rothstein, R-District 5, said. “With that said, I believe that Carroll countians are extremely resilient, and by working together, neighbor to neighbor . we will be successful through county citizenship."
