June is barely over but the South Shore area has already had near-record-breaking heat this summer. Wednesday was the 11th day temperatures in the region have hit 90 degrees or higher, already approaching the average of 14 days for the entire summer, WCVB meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon said. She said the most days of 90 degrees or higher the Boston area has ever seen was in 1983, when 30 days hit at least 90. The hottest months are usually July and August, but June s heat shows this could be one of the warmest summers on the South Shore. The longer-range forecast does predict a warmer-than-average summer,  Fitzgibbon said. June right now is going to go down in the records as the warmest. .
