Winter Storm Warning says the heaviest snowfall will occur early this morning.
The warning until 10 this morning is for Southern Oneida and Madison counties and includes the cities of Hamilton, Oneida, Rome, and Utica. Total accumulation will be near 12 inches in many areas, with 1 to 2 inches of snowfall per hour.
Travel will remain very difficult during this time. Motorists are urged not to travel, but if you must travel, be prepared for snow covered roads and near zero visibilities.

AAA, NYS Police Want You To Drive Safe During The Storm
Here in Central New York, we could get 4 to 6 inches of snow with heavy snowfall expected tonight. If it s necessary for you to be out on the roads this evening, the New York State Police just want you to remain smart and safe.
Winter Weather Advisory for Madison, Northern Oneida, Onondaga, Southern Oneida from 5pm to 10am Thursday, including the cities of Boonville, Syracuse, Hamilton, Oneida, Rome, and Utica. This means everyone should be careful and aware of their surroundings if out on the roads. The New York State Police released a few reminders about driving by offering up information from AAA.
If you do not absolutely have to go out on the roads, then don t.
Obey travel restrictions and bans.
If you drive off the roadway and are stuck in a snowbank or ditch, stay in your vehicle and call 911.
DO NOT exit your vehicle unless it is an absolute emergency. You put yourself at risk of being struck by another vehicle.
Roll your windows down a few inches or turn your vehicle off if you are stranded in deep snow for a period of time with your vehicle running. Covered mufflers can cause serious physical injury or death due to inhalation of carbon monoxide.

The good news is we won t see snow in feet like some areas to the south. The bad news is we will get more than the 1 to 2 inches first predicted earlier in the week. Central New York could get 4 to 6 inches of snow with heavy snowfall expected tonight. The National Weather Service says there is still some uncertainty on snow totals. Any small shift in track could lead to significant differences in snowfall.
