University of Utah Health is officially backing plans for the Huntsman Mental Health Receiving Center to be located near the jail and homeless center in South Salt Lake
University officials said the goal is to have the center open for patients by the Fall of 2023, which would give individuals experiencing a mental health crisis an option aside from the emergency room or a jail cell.
