Across Manitoba there were 62 new cases, including 33 in Winnipeg, four in the Prairie Mountain health region and one each in the southern and Interlake-Eastern health regions. 140 Manitobans are in hospital due to the virus, 66 of them with active infections. Fourteen of those with active infections are in intensive care as are 16 people who are no longer considered infectious. There are 29 northerners in hospital due to COVID, 22 of whom have active infections. Six of those 22 are in intensive care, as are three other northern residents who are no longer considered infectious. Two new deaths were announced on Tuesday, making the total since the pandemic began 942. The five-day test positivity rate is 5.3 per cent provincially.

A large, devastating fire destroyed the only church at a remote First Nation in northern Manitoba on Easter Sunday.
St. Theresa Point is an Oji-Cree community that can only be reached by either plane or boats in the summer or ice-roads during winters. It s located about 610 kilometres from Winnipeg.
The fire is under investigation by local fire officials and the RCMP. (Supplied)

On Monday, Manitoba RCMP said a 32-year-old man was in custody, after he was reported leaving the local Roman Catholic Church, which burned to the ground in a fire shortly before 3 p.m.
