Title honours will be battled trackside on Saturday night

After a whirlwind season, these races will define who takes out the Lismore Track Championship honours and, excitingly, there’s some exceedingly close scores. That means a number of drivers are still in contention from the respective divisions to ensure it all goes down to the season finale. Promoter David Lander said it’s a night a superlative speedway action which should not be missed.

Huset s Speedway set to open May 9, but without Tommy Barber

The racing season at Huset’s Speedway is scheduled to begin on May 9, and for the first time in a long time, there won’t be a Barber on the grid. Brandon native sprint car driver Tommy Barber, son of longtime driver Marty Barber, announced his retirement sort of during the offseason.  Marty began racing at Huset’s in 1975 and over his 25-year career, the now 62-year-old won seven track championships in the Street Stock division and is fourth all-time in career wins with 52. Tommy was quick to follow his father’s path and began racing as a 15-year-old sophomore at Brandon Valley High School in 2005. He was also a quick study, having success just like his father. Tommy is 14th all time in career wins at the track with 33 and won the 360-sprint car championship in 2014.

Will Vaught Captures Feature Win at Lucas Oil Speedway by Lyndal Scranton, Lucas Oil Will Vaught grabbed the lead on lap 11 and continued on to capture the Missouri Metal Buildings ULMA Late Model feature victory Saturday night in the headliner of opening night at Lucas Oil Speedway. Vaught earned $1,000 courtesy of HICKAMO Country Store in the main event of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series Spring Opener Presented by Benne Media. Also earning opening-night feature wins were JC Newell (Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods), Dillon McCowan (Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds) and Derek Brown (O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars).
