Stamp commemoration for 400th anniversary of Plymouth peace treaty

Wicked Local PLYMOUTH – When it comes to stamps, most people would prefer to just lick and stick. Not George McKay. The philatelic fan would rather design and consign his ideas for the good of the community. Stamp-wise, that is. McKay helped organize the commemoration for the Mayflower stamp on its first day of issue last year. Now he is working on special commemorative envelopes for the 400th anniversary of the peace treaty between the Pilgrims and Wampanoags on Saturday, April 24. “We will have a live cancellation ceremony at the Downtown Plymouth Post Office from 10 to 12 that day,” he said. “It’s a crossover program with the Mayflower stamp and the Plymouth 400 medallion and the Sacagawea gold coin.”
