Progressive groups want Democrats to move quickly to enact their agenda.
A coalition pushing to reform the filibuster just tripled in size after dozens of progressive groups signed on to argue Democrats cannot enact their full agenda, including expanding voting rights, gun control, immigration reform or countless other priorities, while following a Senate rule that lets the minority party easily shut down legislation.
With President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill passed into law through the budget reconciliation process, Democrats in Congress will now have to contend with passing the rest of their agenda through regular order. And that means dealing with the Senate’s filibuster rules requiring 60 votes to end debate ― allowing Republicans to easily derail legislation.

CHUCK TODD: Welcome back, panel is back and the number of Democrats calling for Andrew Cuomo s resignation only grows in New York. John Heilemann, Schumer and Gillibrand the latest. Basically, the only prominent Democrats not calling for his resignation outside the state of New York, I guess, at this point is the president and the vice president. I don t know how Cuomo hangs on other than that doesn’t mean he still won’t try to hang on. How does this end?
JOHN HEILEMANN: Oh, Chuck. Well, I think there are a lot of things in play here. One of them is, what else if out there? And every major news organization that I know of right now has a team of people trying to push this story further. And there are a lot of hot leads out there. Let’s put it that way.

In case you haven’t noticed, DONALD TRUMP has every intention of throwing his weight around in Republican primaries in 2022. And whether it’s for an incumbent looking to ward off an intraparty threat or a challenger aiming to knock off a sitting senator, his endorsement matters a lot. Even candidates in safe seats stand to raise a ton of money if they can manage to secure Trump’s imprimatur.
