VATICAN CITY (CNS) As he did before naming a new prefect for the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, Pope Francis has asked a bishop to conduct an official visit of the Congregation for Clergy.
In a letter June 7, Bishop Egidio Miragoli of Mondovì, Italy, told the priests of his diocese that Pope Francis had asked him to undertake a visit, in his name, of the Congregation for Clergy.
The current prefect of the congregation, Cardinal Beniamino Stella, will reach the mandato

Diocese of Tarlac Bishop Enrique Macaraeg thanked the Vatican for the privilege after the Holy See’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of Sacraments granted the petition of the diocese October 1 last year. The canonical coronation of the Mater Dolorosa was the first to be approved by the Vatican in Tarlac
“It was my deepest honor as a bishop of Tarlac to have petitioned to the Holy Father Pope Francis through the Congregation of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments last July 2020 for the canonical coronation of the venerated image of the Mater Dolorosa in Barangay Dolores, Capas, Tarlac. The petition was granted last October 1, 2020 on the Feast of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face, giving the Diocese of Tarlac its very first Marian image to be canonically crowned,” Macaraeg said over Radio Veritas.
Father Ken Doyle offers some alternatives for people who suffer migraine headaches from the use of incense at Mass. They should attend a Mass where they can, without the smoke.
There is still no reliable information about the “interpretations” of
Summorum pontificum announced by Francis, but there are numerous conjectures. Some of them are to be taken quite seriously.
Perhaps the most interesting consideration: Since there is talk of “interpretation,” the text of the motu proprio itself could remain untouched the planned changes would be realized through a rewrite of the 2011
Universae Ecclesiae implementing regulations. Deeper interventions would thus not be necessary for the time being; yet one would have to accept certain incongruities between the Motu Proprio, which as such has the force of law, and the implementing regulations. This is precisely what one must expect in view of the increasingly demonstrated disregard for formal law and its norms in Rome.
