The Elk City School Board is scheduled to meet Monday night in regular session, and it appears that the board will consider the hiring of the district’s next superintendent.
According to the agenda, the board will consider to employ Mike Sparks as the Elk City School District Superintendent for the 2021-2024 school years. Board President Brandon Storm says Sparks currently serves as superintendent at Pioneer Public Schools, a kindergarten through 8
th grade school district near Chickasha.
According to the Express-Star Newspaper out of Chickasha, Sparks has served as the superintendent at Pioneer Public Schools since 2016.

Guys & Dolls Performance
Friday, Eighth through 12th-grade students from the Sooner Theatre of Norman will be center stage for their performance of Guys and Dolls.
There will be performances through Sunday.
Both live stream and in-person tickets are available for $15.
OKCPS Application Deadline
Friday is the last day to enroll Oklahoma City Public School students for the upcoming school year.
Any student in fourth through 11th grade interesting in Belle Isle, Classen of Southeast middle and high school can complete their application online.
SWOSU Commencement
Southwestern Oklahoma State University will have in-person graduation ceremonies for 2020 and 2021 graduates.
University officials said ceremonies will be April 30 through May 2 at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.

The expanded phase 2 portion of Oklahoma’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan is already taking place in western Oklahoma.
A big portion of the plan includes educators.
Tuesday, Elk City School staff members started to receive their first round of shots with other schools quickly scheduling clinics for their employees.
Elk City, City Manager Tom Ivester stated recently that the City of Elk City and the Beckham County Health Department is getting the attention of state officials on how their weekly point of distribution clinics are being operated.
Ivester says with the latest step in the state’s roll out plan, Oklahoma’s allocation of the vaccine has increased by 45%.

The Edmond Board of Education has selected a new superintendent.
Angela Mills Grunewald, the current associate superintendent for educational services, is the district s new superintendent, according to a news release.
The board approved her hiring during a special meeting Tuesday after a two-month search.
Grunewald will be Edmond Public Schools first female superintendent in the district s history with the exception of an interim superintendent in the early 1900s, the district said.
She will assume the leadership position after the retirement of Bret Towne at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
“We are excited Dr. Grunewald will be the next leader of Edmond Public Schools,” Kathleen Duncan, Board of Education president, said. “From her days as an Edmond principal to her current position, she has long been a driving force behind the success of our district and its students. Her knowledge of the district – and the relationships she’s built – will allo
