Pocatello brings back mask mandate at all city facilities Updated at Share This POCATELLO A mask mandate has been reimplemented inside of all Pocatello city buildings beginning Thursday. Mayor Brian Blad announced at a Wednesday afternoon news conference that masks will be required inside of all city facilities and vehicles, including the Pocatello Regional Transit buses and the Pocatello Regional Airport. The announcement comes as vaccination rates slow and cases of the COVID-19 climb, leading to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention designation of Bannock County as a “county of substantial community transmission,” according to Blad. “I’ve made this decision in light of the new guidance from the CDC, and in consultation with our local experts and Southeast Idaho Public Health,” the mayor said.

COVID-19 UPDATES: 358 new Idaho COVID-19 cases, 1 new death IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Idaho officials reported 358 new COVID-19 cases and 1 new death Wednesday. That brings the total confirmed and probable cases reported since March 2020 to 199,516. About 89% of Idaho residents live in communities where masks should be worn again. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday recommended even vaccinated people return to wearing masks indoors where the Delta variant of the coronavirus is fueling infection surges.  The CDC cited new information about the variant’s ability to spread among vaccinated people.  There are a total of 159,544 confirmed cases and 39,972 probable cases in all 44 of the 44 counties in Idaho, according to numbers released from the local health districts and the state. COVID-19 UPDATES: 318 new Idaho COVID-19 cases, 1 new death IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Idaho officials reported 318 new COVID-19 cases and 1 new death Tuesday. That brings the total confirmed and probable cases reported since March 2020 to 199,158. There are a total of 159,275 confirmed cases and 39,883 probable cases in all 44 of the 44 counties in Idaho, according to numbers released from the local health districts and the state. See the chart below. The state said 746,020 people have received the vaccine, and 1,379,832 total doses have been administered. 688,638 people are fully vaccinated. Southeastern Idaho Public Health has 15 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in southeast Idaho. This brings the total of confirmed and probable cases to 17,547.
