Filipina workers trafficked from UAE to Syria, abused and assaulted

Filipina workers and maids have been trafficked from the United Arab Emirates to Syria where they have been subjected to assault, rape, abuse and the withholding of their wages, a
Washington Postreport has revealed.
The accounts and testimonies of 17 women from the Philippines, interviewed by the newspaper over Facebook Messenger, reveal that dozens of workers from the south-east Asian country were forced into being transferred to Syria after arriving in the UAE where they initially intended to work.
MAKATI, Jan. 25 The Philippines is committed to forging closer economic and bilateral ties with Indonesia as the two countries are further deepening their collaboration on boosting each other’s copper industry.
The Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) recently (14 January 2021) held an online Copper Industry Dialogue with its Indonesian counterpart, Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) along with other government agencies and stakeholders on both sides.
The Dialogue was conceptualized and proposed during the 8th meeting of the Philippines-Indonesia Joint Working Group on Trade, Investments, Handicrafts and Shipping (PH-ID JWG-TIHS) which was virtually conducted on 11 August 2020. It is also a follow-up initiative of the Philippine side after presenting economic proposals/areas for collaboration in the copper industry during the 7th meeting of the PH-ID JWG-TIHS on 26 August 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

China s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has embarked on a four-nation tour of Southeast Asia immediately after finishing his tour in Africa at the beginning of the New Year that marks the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue relations.
