(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Dr Anwar Gargash is an inspirational figure for Emirati students, said top officials from the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA).
The Emirates Diplomatic Academy was renamed after Dr Anwar Gargash , the outgoing Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, in honour of his contributions to the UAE. In a Cabinet reshuffle , Dr Gargash has been appointed as diplomatic advisor to the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Dr Mariam Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, deputy director-general of AGDA, expressed great joy on the renaming of the prestigious academy. Dr Gargash s pioneering diplomatic efforts, both regionally and internationally, will now forever be embedded within our reputed Academy, as we continue our very own honourable mission of preparing the nation s future diplomats, who will too proudly serve their homeland on the international arena. Many know the history of George Washington Carver and how he changed American farming. Fewer may be familiar with Marie Van Brittan Brown, a nurse who worked long hours and came home alone, late at night to her Queens, New York apartment, and ended up inventing the first home security system.
From changing the world to making everyday life easier, Black scientists and inventors have long imagined, then created, pioneering works, often without recognition or compensation.
Two months after the couple wed, in late 2020, Luna Macapagal passed away. To help keep their mother’s memory alive the couple set up an online drive to help raise awareness in an effort to help others.
