A dust storm roared into the Borderland on Tuesday afternoon, bringing powerful wind gusts.
The National Weather Service El Paso issued a high-wind warning until 8 p.m. Tuesday for far West Texas and Doña Ana County and southern Otero County in New Mexico.
The blowing dust brought less than a mile of visibility in some areas, the NWS cautioned. If visibility is too low, drivers are advised to pull over and turn on their vehicle lights.
The storm was forecast to have sustained winds of 35 mph to 45 mph, with gusts of up to 65 mph, the weather service warned.
The forecast called for sunny and clear conditions on Wednesday, the weather service said, but winds could gust up to 28 mph.

LAS CRUCES – A dust storm traveling from northern Mexico pummeled Doña Ana County Tuesday afternoon with the National Weather Service issuing several hazardous weather conditions warnings.
A low-pressure system moved through the southern New Mexico area Tuesday afternoon, strengthening winds according to the NWS.
Around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday the NWS issued High Wind and Blowing Dust warnings that will last into the evening for southern Doña Ana County, El Paso counties and the southern Tularosa Basin. Westerly winds are blowing at 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts reaching around 55 miles per hour.
