In his second attempt to gain a political role in Sleepy Hollow, biking activist Daniel Convissor will be challenging a trio of Unite Sleepy Hollow party candidates for one of the three open trustee seats in the village’s March 16 general election.
Convissor ran against Mayor Ken Wray in the 2019 elections as an independent write-in candidate, but managed to garner only 52 votes. This election will see him competing against current, two-term Trustee Denise Scaglione, and two newcomers running under the Unite Sleepy Hollow flag, Tom Andruss and Jared Rodriguez.
The non-partisan Sleepy Hollow Committee’s candidates have not lost an election since the group was formed in 2015, under Wray, and it hasn’t been opposed by any formal political party since then. Wray is contending to win his seventh consecutive election. The mayor faces no opponent so far.

Girls of all ages see themselves in Vice President Kamala Harris

When Vice President Kamala Harris was sworn into office, spirits of many girls, mothers and grandmothers across the globe were lifted.
Anusha Vaish, 10, of Eastchester, says it s hard for her to believe that a woman hasn t ever been elected to the country s highest office. She insists that after Wednesday, there is no looking back. I would tell her that she s an inspiration and that she s doing an amazing thing for women and girls, she said.
Harris is the first South Asian, first Black American and the first woman to be vice president.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY The top 300 scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2021 were announced Thursday by the Society for Science, and two of the scholars live in Sleepy Hollow.
The 300 scholars and their respective schools will be awarded $2,000 each.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors, according to a spokesperson.

The scholars were selected from 1,760 applications received from 611 high schools across 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and 10 countries. They were chosen based on their exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking and promise as scientists, and hail from 198 American and international high schools in 37 states, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
