Michigan State Police trooper among three hurt in Battle Creek crash

Courtesy, MSP BATTLE CREEK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a MSP patrol vehicle and a black Toyota Camry, according to MSP Lt. Duwayne Robinson. The crash happened on West Columbia Avenue near Stevens Road in Battle Creek at about 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Trooper Christopher Haywood had been driving westbound on West Columbia Avenue when a Toyota Camry, with a 32-year-old Kalamazoo man at the wheel, crossed the centerline hitting Haywood’s patrol vehicle head on. Trooper Haywood and the two occupants of the Camry suffered severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. All three went by ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment.

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police say a suspect is dead and two other people are injured after a stabbing and shooting incident in Oshtemo Township this morning. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says just after 7:00 a.m. Friday, a call came in about a suicidal person armed with a knife at a home at Chippendale Drive and Morningstar Way. When deputies arrived at the home, the Sheriff’s Department says the suspect “engaged deputies and shots were fired.” State Police Lt. DuWayne Robinson said the man who was killed by a deputy had injured two people inside the home before the deputy arrived, according to WWMT-TV.
