Ironman Triathlon Expected To Contribute Millions To Tulsa’s Economy
Tulsa is preparing to host the Ironman triathlon for the first time over the weekend. The course reaches into three different counties and is expected to attract thousands of people.
Tulsa Regional Tourism President Ray Hoyt said Ironman will contribute $10 million to the city’s economy over the weekend. Hoyt said Tulsa’s restaurant, hotel and transportation services industries will get a boost during the event.
When planning for the event, Hoyt said it has been a team effort stretching across different counties and departments. He said Tulsa is the right place for this event because it is centrally located in the United States, the area makes for a good course and the city has hosted big events before.
