FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting at the Waukena Market, County sheriff s detectives said on Thursday.
During an attempted robbery on Monday night, the store s co-owner Manuel Martin, who was working behind the counter at the time, was shot to death. The Waukena Market is the only store in Waukena, a small town east of Corcoran, and residents call it their community hub.
Investigators say deputies monitored the house for some time, and eventually brought the teen into custody.
Christmas light displays are few and far between in the South Valley. But one law enforcement agency is looking to change that.
As a follow up to October s trunk or treat event, Tulare County Sheriff s Department will host its first annual Winter Wonderland.
Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and the department s PAL Program invite parents to bring their children to a drive-through light display this weekend at the sheriff s headquarters in Visalia. I wanted to do something for families because they re stuck at home, Boudreaux said. I hope this becomes a family event.
Throughout the week, the department s specialized units set up Christmas displays throughout the spacious parking lot. On Thursday, Sgt. Nathan Polk helped erect dozens of inflatable characters including the North Police Air Delivery helicopter.
