A gas explosion in the Bronx has left at least ten people injured, including children and one firefighter, after the powerful blast flung the doors and windows of a home out into the street.
The explosion occurred around 3.30pm on Thursday on Paulding Avenue in the Morris Park section of the New York City borough, on the second floor of a three-story townhouse.
Units from FDNY, NYPD Special Operations and ConEdison rushed to the scene, according to NYPD Chief of Department Terrence Monahan, who warned residents to expect a heavy police presence and avoid the area.
Firefighters advised dispatch that up to ten people were injured, with two suffering life-threatening wounds, according to emergency radio traffic. Children were believed to be among the critically injured.
