Scotland s fruit farmers say crops may go unpicked this season due to a shortage of migrant workers.
However, one Fife farmer claims Scotland could be up to 1,500 workers short of the 10,000 needed.
Iain Brown from Easter Grangemuir Farm, Pittenweem, says the UK government has left it too late to have a visa scheme for foreign workers fully operational.
The Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs (Defra) said it would always back our farmers and growers and ensure that producers across the UK have the support and workforce they need.

Pet thieves will feel the full force of the law, lord chancellor Robert Buckland has declared - with the Ministry of Justice, Home Office and Department for Food, Rural Affairs & Environment setting up a taskforce to investigate a reported surge in pet thefts.
The taskforce is part of wider measures to improve animal welfare standards that will be unveiled in the Queen’s speech tomorrow - including an Animal Sentience Bill that will enshrine animals’ feelings in law and draft legislation banning the import of hunting trophies and live animal exports.
Announcing the taskforce yesterday, the government said internet searches for ‘buy a puppy’ increased by 166% between March and August last year, and recent police investigations into dog theft resulted in numerous raids and arrests on suspicion of theft and animal cruelty.

Changes to the sale of domestic solid fuels come into effect Print
Changes to the sale of manufactured solid fuels and wood came into effect on 1 May.
The changes mean that retail businesses in England, including convenience stores, supermarkets and forecourts, must not sell traditional house coal (bituminous coal).
Permitted manufactured solid fuels and wood also can only be sold as follows:
All manufactured solid fuels must be certified for use to be legally sold, with the exception of ‘exempt’ fuels. To be sold correctly, the approved Ready to Burn logo must be displayed along with the manufacturer details, and unique certification number. This should either be attached to the packaging or can be displayed at point of sale.
