(KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents continue to apprehend large groups at the border. Agents said they found 42 migrants last Saturday at County 17 and the Salinity Canal. Earlier that day, they found 79 migrants in the same area. On early Monday morning, they found 98 migrants in the same area. Yuma Sector said all three were taken to the station to be screened. Last weekend, they apprehended 1,600 migrants in just one weekend.

All of the noncitizens were taken into Border Patrol custody.

(KOLD News 13) - Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Wellton station arrested four different groups attempting to smuggle 534 pounds of methamphetamine worth nearly $1 million through the desert over the weekend. At approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, agents spotted a group hiding under a palo verde tree on the Luke Air Force Base bombing range east of Wellton, Arizona. Agents approached the tree and apprehended a 17-year-old unaccompanied child and a 48-year-old man as they tried to flee the area. They also located three backpacks containing 120 pounds of methamphetamine under the tree. Agents took custody of the smugglers and the methamphetamine, estimated to be worth $216,000.

They say they spotted a group hiding under a tree on the Luke Air Force Base bombing range just east of Wellton. The group tried to escape, but Border Patrol says agents did take a 17-year-old and a 48-year-old man into custody.
