LAKELAND VILLAGE, CA Two people were killed and at least two others injured in a blaze that erupted Monday in a Lakeland Village home.
The deadly fire was reported about 2:45 p.m. in the 32900 block of Blackwell Boulevard, near Brightman Avenue, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews sent to the location encountered flames in multiple rooms of the single-story residence, with heavy smoke in the attached garage, according to reports from the scene.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has struck a tentative deal with civilian city employee unions to avoid layoffs and furloughs for the next six months, by postponing raises for those workers until the summer of 2022.
The Coalition of L.A. City Unions, which represents clerks, gardeners, mechanics, custodians and many other municipal employees, tentatively agreed to push back a 2% raise scheduled for this month and another 2% planned for June.
Garcetti confirmed the broad outlines of the deal, saying in a statement that he hopes to reach similar agreements with sworn employees at the city’s police and fire departments.
Houdini has been at the San Diego County Department of Animal Services shelter in Carlsbad for more than a year.
Animal Services staff sorted through more than a hundred interested applicants for Houdini, 3, who earned his name for being an escape artist at some of his previous adopter homes, before making a decision.
“Apparently, he likes to escape from things, and I’ve been escaping from handcuffs and hanging boxes for years. Maybe he can teach me a few new tricks!” Wyrick said.

A German shepherd mix that tried today to jump through a barred window at a Jurupa Valley business became wedged inside the bars, requiring animal control officers to extricate him.
The canine was found about 7 a.m. dangling from the bathroom window at All Car #1 Auto Repair, 8766 Limonite Court, according to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services.
Agency spokesman John Welsh said the pooch may have inadvertently become locked inside the bathroom and attempted to leap outside via the small window, to which an ornamental iron frame is attached, with a heart-shaped bar running down the middle.
