New Law Offers Additional Vietnam War Veterans Compensation for Agent Orange Exposure

Ken Buck with the Grundy Veterans Assistance Commission was on WCSJ last week discussing new potential compensation for Vietnam War Veterans. Last November Congress passed and the President signed the latest National Defense Authorization Act. Included in the law are expanded definitions for those claiming adverse side effects and diseases caused by exposure to Agent Orange while serving in or near the Vietnam War. Agent Orange was an herbicide the U.S. military sprayed on the jungles of Vietnam to more easily identify Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army members. The bright orange substance was later found to cause many kinds of cancer and other diseases in American service members and Vietnamese civilians.
