HEREâS WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING:
NEW YORKâU.S. health advisers have endorsed use of Pfizerâs COVID-19 vaccine in kids as young as 12.
The Food and Drug Administration earlier in the week cleared the expanded use of Pfizerâs shots, citing evidence the shots worked as well in those 12 to 15 years old as those 16 and older.
Kids in some places are already rolling up their sleeves.
But much of the nation was waiting for Wednesdayâs recommendations from advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many states will be shipping doses to pediatricians and even to schools.

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) The governor of Wyoming has announced that the state will end its participation in federal supplemental benefits intended to address high unemployment across the U.S. caused by the pandemic.
Republican Gov. Mark Gordon said Tuesday the decision will end the weekly $300 payments starting June 19 and no longer expand eligibility to people who previously could not collect benefits, such as self-employed residents, the Casper Star-Tribune reported Tuesday.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reported last month that the unemployment rate in the state was 5.3% in March below the national 6% rate.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Utah will terminate its participation in the federal government’s pandemic-related unemployment assistance program, Gov. Spencer Cox announced Wednesday
Utah is the latest of several states, including Arkansas, Mississippi, Montana and South Carolina, ending the $300 federal benefit paid on top of state benefits. Cox, a Republican, said those extra federal benefits will end in Utah on June 26.
“This is the natural next step in getting the state and people’s lives back to normal,” Cox said. “With the nation’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.9% and plenty of good-paying jobs available today, it makes sense to transition away from these extra benefits that were never intended to be permanent.”

Encouraged by positive job growth across the state, Gov. Spencer Cox on Wednesday decided to end Utah s participation in increased federal unemployment benefits tied to the pandemic.
“This is the natural next step in getting the state and people’s lives back to normal,” Gov. Cox said in a statement.
I believe in the value of work. With the nation’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.9% and plenty of good-paying jobs available today, it makes sense to transition away from these extra benefits that were never intended to be permanent. The market should not be competing with the government for workers.
